still always really pissed that pretty much ninety percent of the team’s hatred was directed at ward, not john
it doesn’t matter if they didn’t know he was a victim, WE KNEW AS AN AUDIENCE, and so it’s really upsetting
john was the catalyst, john was the fucking human plague that ate ward alive and the team still blamed ward, all the hate was for ward, almost all the violence was for ward
and yes it still bothers me it was the writing staff getting to make him sympathetic through flashback but still have the team point fingers and use classic victim blaming in their anger, (they didn’t know it WAS victim blaming but since the AUDIENCE KNOWS it’s still read as such) which is basically having their shitty abuse arc cake and eating it too
i’m so angry that everyone turned on him and i’m so angry that we don’t ever get to see them realize he was a victim too and now with john dead (? maybe idk he certainly appears to be) they might never get to know since they certainly won’t fucking BELIEVE HIM
john was the villain here john was the dog murdering nazi defecting abusive monster here not ward; ward was manipulated, ward was the gun in john’s hand, but john is A WORSE HUMAN BEING THIS IS NOT UP FOR DEBATE and yet he gets literally not even a fucking fraction of in-show or fandom ire
i understand that ward’s betrayal was more ‘personal’ but it’s just fucking frustrating and painful to watch everyone blame him when he’s a manipulated victim who has been belittled and abused his entire fucking life until he’s desperate and willing to do anything for john because he’s been fucking abused
